Description

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a lasting difference for the residents and communities of one of London's most ambitious boroughs.

Newham is a borough defined by energy, diversity and opportunity. Home to world-class regeneration, thriving communities and bold ambitions for the future, we are committed to delivering better outcomes for our residents while building a financially resilient and high-performing organisation.

We are now seeking an outstanding Corporate Director of Resources and statutory Section 151 Officer to join our Corporate Leadership Board and help shape the next chapter of our journey.

Reporting directly to Chief Executive, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the Council's ambitions, providing strategic leadership across a broad corporate portfolio spanning finance, people, digital and technology, procurement, audit, fraud, revenues and benefits, climate action and organisational performance.

Having successfully exited Exceptional Financial Support, Newham is entering an exciting new phase. We have strengthened our financial foundations, improved governance and created a platform for long-term sustainability. The opportunity now is to build on that progress, driving innovation, performance and value while helping deliver transformational outcomes for residents.

We're looking for a leader with the credibility, resilience and strategic vision to operate at the highest level. Whether you are an accomplished Section 151 Officer or an exceptional senior corporate leader ready to step into a role of this scale, you will bring the ability to inspire confidence, build high-performing teams and influence across a complex political environment.

Most importantly, you will be motivated by public service and excited by the opportunity to make a tangible impact in a borough where strong leadership can genuinely change lives.

In return, you will find committed political leadership, talented colleagues, a supportive Chief Executive and the opportunity to help shape the future of one of London's most dynamic councils.
